Why prostitution is harmful
It is important to recognize the detrimental impact of prostitution on society, and the reasons why it should not be legalized or decriminalized.
Those who advocate for the legalization or decriminalization of prostitution are typically individuals who support the practice.
However, it is essential to understand that such advocates are likely to fall into one of the following categories:
- Prostitutes or former prostitutes
- Sex-buyers, punters or Johns
- Pimps, madams or panderers
- Brothel owners or workers
- Businesses or individuals who earn, or plan to earn, money from prostitution
- People who pursue a certain ideology, but fail to acknowledge the reality of human nature.
Individuals who support the legalization and decriminalization of prostitution often do so to advance their own interests, using gaslighting phrases such as:
- My body my choice
- The world’s oldest profession
- Sex work is work
- Improving the health of prostitutes
- Solving poverty
- Reducing crime
- It doesn’t hurt anyone
- Legalizing prostitution protects prostitutes
- Decriminalizing prostitution protects prostitutes
- Collecting taxes for the country’s revenue
These arguments are completely nonsensical. Let’s examine why.
